  • Site Description
    Stage of Clean-up: Construction Underway

    Conditions at proposal (October 15, 1984): The Cinnaminson Township (Block 702) Ground Water Contamination affects that portion of the Raritan Magothy Aquifer located in the vicinity of Grinding Balls Road between Taylor Lane and Union Landing Road, Cinnaminson Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. Contamination of the aquifer with CHLOROFORM, BENZENE, and other organics was discovered during an August l983 study conducted by a consultant for the owners of a nearby landfill. The aquifer is a source of drinking water for 52,000 people. Status (June 10, l986): EPA is conducting a remedial investigation/feasibility study to determine the type and extent of contamination at the site and identify alternatives for remedial action.

  • Threats and Contaminants
    Arsenic and VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS, including CHLOROFORM, BENZENE, TETRACHLOROETHYLENE, and VINYL CHLORIDE, have been detected in the groundwater. Ingestion of contaminated groundwater poses the greatest potential risk to residents.
