  • Site Description
    Stage of Clean-up: Construction Underway

    Conditions at listing (December 1982): The Rocky Hill Municipal Well in Rocky Hill Borough, Somerset County, New Jersey, has been contaminated with various volatile organics from an unknown source. The well, which serves about 1,000 residents of the borough, has been sealed, and Elizabethtown Water Co., 9 miles from the site, is providing water. Status (July 1983): The Town of Rocky Hill is installing an aeration system to remove contaminants from the well.

    Groundwater at the Site is contaminated with VOCS. The contaminated groundwater is treated to drinking water standards before being supplied to the residents of Rocky Hill.
