Toxic Release Inventory Data Summary Statement

Welcome to the Berg Lacquer Family of Companies. Among our companies' corporate values, protection of the environment and our responsibility as a corporate citizen are foremost.

The information contained within this Environmental Release Report, specifically the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Data Summary, identifies our facility's releases for calendar years 1988-1995. This information is based on information submitted by Berg Laquer Co. to the EPA, and reflects amounts based on range codes, not actual quantities released. As a result, the figures shown are overstated.

The waste figures shown are accurate- however, the waste figures do not reflect waste generated by our manufacturing facility. Berg Lacquer Co., currently classified as a manufacturing facility, also operates a Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF) within the same facility. The waste figures include waste we take in to recycle. At the request of the EPA, both companies utilize the same EPA Identification Number. Ninety-percent of the company's " production waste " results from the recycling operations of the TSDF.

For future reporting years, Berg Lacquer Co. will be reclassified as a TSDF, and will report actual quantities released rather than the range codes previously reported on Form R submissions. These changes will more accurately represent the companies' facility status reporting and releases.
