Air Contaminants (California Occupational and Safety Health Act)
|

Description
The California Labor Code requires that the director of the state's Department of Industrial Relations compile a list of hazardous substances and make it
available to manufacturers, employers, and the public. The list is updated and revised every two years.
Substances are placed on the Director's List if they are on
one of the following lists:
1. International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) list
of human or animal carcinogens
2. Federal Clean Water Act list of pollutants, Sections 307
and 311
3. Federal Clean Air Act list of hazardous air pollutants
(HAPs)
4. Occupational Safety and Health Administration list of air
contaminants
5. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) list of restricted
materials
6. Inclusion in the Hazard Evaluation and Information
Service (HESIS)
7. Inclusion in the Federal Hazard Communication Standard
